Spurred on by @annicemacleodphotographs I decided to come out too. This is the first time I entered and I nearly fainted when I got the e-mail last week. This famous international competition had 10,000 entries so to be shortlisted is so awesome, but I have kept quiet about it, I only told my sister, husband and one of my bestest friends initially. So here I am and still feel shy about it because some of the photographers are utterly awesome, but I am just a little bit proud 😊
The last day of the Guild of Food Writers challenge, the word is underneath. That has many connotations but for me, this image of a hugely momentous moment was with two of my best friends who had taken me to Iceland for the big birthday, we were laying on the ground underneath this awesome site. The Northern Lights had been playing up for months at the time and we had been warned. But I was armed with my big camera and fish eye lens (thanks to husband) and they danced in all their glory for us. There no filter on this image, this is how they appeared through the lens. I do apologise, I think I may have used this image in a past challenge but it remains one of my favourites. Thank you @thegfw for organising the challenge it’s been fun #TheGFW2021 #TheGFW28
