A very special lunch today @paradise_foods_ with cooking from the inimitable @atkinschef celebrating @mrsemilyblenkinsop 30th birthday together with @joshua293. Frances and her staff do not disappoint with these fresh sardines and mixed bean salad just the perfect food on such a hot day. I forgot to photograph any other dishes, I was too busy eating, drinking and catching up with the kids. #familygatheting #bestcafes #bestcooking
We have just finished building our new outdoor kitchen involving new fencing and decking . All great for us humans but not so for my most favourite creatures, the hedgehog. It’s so easy to close down their path through gardens forcing them out onto the road, and we know what happens there! So, I am loving these Hedgehog Highway which opens up the path through for these gorgeous little animals. The husband went along with my wish and I think he’s quite chuffed about it too ❤️
A new salad that went down well. @pipersfarm lamb burger crumbled over a crisp summery salad including a hefty mound of beetroot and finished with tiny sautéed potatoes and a mint dressing. Substantial yet light enough for the warm weather and a good balance nutritionally. Happy husband and easy cooking. #winwin
Calling all halloumi lovers. Oh, we love this salad and eat it so often and year-round, no saving it just for summer. With both halloumi, beans, potatoes, tomatoes, capers, dill and mint in a lovely dressing, it is filling and supremely healthy, I feel. Always puts a smile on Ron's face when I say halloumi salad for dinner. Recipe in profile.
Treasured moments. First time cooking with our grandson Frank, what better way than with his favourite pizza. It’s a joy to share a love of good with little people, watch them getting their little fingers in and enjoying the results. I feel blessed.
Starting young ❤️
A joyous, happy birthday to this wonderful man who is my love, a kind friend, an adoring father, and when I see him with the grandkids, it melts my heart. He want to go to the seaside today for a lovely lunch and ice creams - he is still a big kid at heart and makes me laugh so much. Love you 💋
We are in Bouzigues on the shore of l’etang du Thau where as far as I can see there are oyster and mussel beds. These little beauties are ‘les bebes’ the babies fixed to the their ropes ready to go and grow in the lake. So tiny its remarkable ❤️
French apricots • vanilla • basil • white wine. Poach. Eat with vanilla ice cream alongside great friends on a hot summers evening in Provence. Could life be better? Thank you @jayneaustinprice x
Sunshine on a plate made by my lovely friend @jayneaustinprice on our arrival at their gorgeous home near Brignoles. What a welcome feast especially after camping for a week and some haphazard cooking from me. There’s a whole medley of taste, texture, fragrant spices, juicey tomatoes, avocado and chorizo, lime creme fraiche dressing.
In an age when so much that we buy is mass produced, how mesmerising it was to stumble across this tiny workshop in Naples old town. It was the noise of the hammer as he diligently crimped the edges of the drum destined to be used for pizza fritta, that first caught my attention as we walked . All the beautiful baking implements you can see are made by their hands.
If I have to work while away, I can think of worse places to write. A borrowed table and chair set up outside our bedroom. It’s so quiet but I can still hear the splashing in the pool and the children laughing - sometimes crying, but that’s usually when they have to get out of the pool - a cuppa or a bottle of water is delivered periodically. It is a lovely place to be. #casapoggio #sabinaitaly #lazio #writerscorner #hotsummerdays
