White Rose Awards 2019

The White Rose Awards 2019 was the biggest and best yet with more awards up for grabs than ever before.

What an extraordinarily exciting time this has been for the White Rose Awards 2019. 103 finalists battled it out to win in 19 categories with a number of brand-new awards too including Accessible and Inclusive Tourism, Ethical and Sustainable Tourism, New Tourism plus an International Tourism Award added to the list.

Excitingly, this year also saw the introduction of the Gold, Silver, Bronze award system. This new method allowed the judges to recognise the achievements of even more well-deserving Yorkshire businesses. It also means more opportunities for finalists to progress through to the national tourism awards run by Visit England.

The partnership with Visit England has made the awards more robust than ever. For the first time, we are part of an online national platform and scoring system. The extensive new criteria. includes a new emphasis on accessibility, sustainability, and social media. The awards also have a new judging panel of eight industry experts who have generously gave their time and vast expertise to ensure these are the best awards yet!  These changes mean even more businesses can go through to the national finals and to make Yorkshire proud. Is it any wonder that the White Rose Awards are the biggest celebration of tourism in the UK.

I was honoured to be Chair of Judges during these exciting and forward-looking changes. I wish to thank not only the judges but also the dedicated staff at Welcome to Yorkshire. who have worked long and hard in supporting the new awards. And, to all the business out there as well. Through your dedication and for setting standards so high you made our judging deliberations even harder this year.  Whether they ultimately took home a gold, silver or bronze award, you are all winners in my eyes.
